Once upon a time, in a land far away…..
This may be surprising, given my obvious obsession with colour, but many years ago I lived in a tiny two bedroom flat that was decorated entirely in black and white. It was über stylish, and a long way from my current decorating style.
Even to this day I still have an abiding love of black and white, and I find myself drawn to artworks and decor that are these colours. (Or non-colours for the purists out there).
There is not one room in my home that doesn’t include something black and white:
In the kitchen I am lucky enough to have bench tops and cupboards that I really like, in my favourite black and white (well, off white technically). I probably would have chosen something less built-in and matching if I had been doing the kitchen myself, but I like the style chosen by the former owners nonetheless!
Artworks all over the house include monochrome photography, etchings, charcoal drawings and others:
Even in the toilet I have lots of black and white!
And black frames in the bathroom are complemented by the wrought iron candlesticks .
I adore the use of newsprint for decorating.
And my love of animal prints includes zebra!
I find that a touch of black and white tempers the insane colour in my home, just a little bit!
