Yes, I think you know what I’m talking about- toilet roll tubes. There is never a shortage of them in anyone’s home, and for the recycler that I am, I’m always looking for something new to do with them.
Today it was an upcycling project using these op shop photo frames.
First thing was to paint a base colour on the frames, and I chose a purple and a sea green.
Next was to choose some contrasting paint colours (all of these are just artists acrylics), ang get out some of those toilet rolls.
Then it was just a simple process of using the cardboard rolls dipped in paint to create a pattern of overlapping circles around the frame.
A quick squirt of acrylic gloss varnish would help to make the finish durable, but isn’t necessary.
With the very strong bright colours used, I decided on a couple of black and white postcards to display in the frames, which are now hanging on my bedroom wall.
