Hunting for something in my shed this week I came across a box of plain white crockery that I haven’t used in years.
My first thought was “I should take these into the op shop”, but then I remembered seeing a Pinterest pin of some ikat patterned plates from Anthropologie …. So, I collected together my supplies which were pretty simple, plates, pencil and Sharpies.
A quick Google search for images of Ikat fabric for inspiration and I was ready to create something new and funky to hang on my wall! It’s a simple enough process, draw the outline of the design with pencil, then colour it in with rough strokes with the texta.
Obviously these can not be used to put food on or be washed, as the Sharpie would come off. If I wanted to do that, I could have used porcelain markers (Such as these), baked them in the oven, and they would be dishwasher safe and everything.
Instead, these are just for decoration in my kitchen/dining area on the wall above my jug collection!
I think they look very effective on the wall – blue one is my favourite 🙂
Thanks Frilka! The blue one is my favourite too!!!!!!!!!
