Indigo Obsessions

It was fate. There’s no other explanation. Indigo dye half price? Obviously I had to buy all they had, sadly that only amounted to four packets.

So then I hunted through my linen press for things to dye!

Sheets, pillowcases, cushion covers, a Duma cover, floor rug and even some embroidered napkins came to light, and I set to with rubber bands and zip ties, and even (not so successfully) some wool.

Then it was into the washing machine with salt and dye!

Not everything dyed quite as I had hoped. One load clearly had too much fabric and didn’t dye as dark as I would have liked. A couple of the pieces I had tied with wool came undone in the wash so ended up plain blue, and some pieces were not 100% cotton as I had believed, so they didn’t dye well either.

Having said that, I am still very much swooning with a love of indigo and blue and white tie dye! Here are the results:

Blue and white bliss – the cats seem to agree!
