There is nothing more satisfying to me than things that are organised by colour. I love rainbows and things that are rainbow coloured.
I love unicorns too, but that’s another story!
So. When I was putting something away in my shed and I came across this box, I had a rainbowy idea!
This box probably hadn’t been opened for at least five years, and the contents would have to be at least ten years old, so I wasn’t entirely sure what I was going to find.
Actually, it was pretty cool!
Beeswax and Palm Wax
Candle colour blocks and crayons (a secret weapon for colouring candles!)
So I just needed some vessels to make them in.
A quick scan of the cupboards only yielded one glass candle holder, so I went to the op shop and picked up these four glasses:
$1 each, and they’re really solid, so can stand the heat.
First up was to place the wicks, with the aid of some ice cream sticks:
Then I mixed some wax with some colour in a jug and stuck it in the microwave to melt.
I started with purple, pouring a layer into the bottom of each glass.
Once it was solid and cooled, I moved onto blue.
It was at this point I started to get impatient. This is not recommended.
Impatience yields swirliness and mixed colours. Oops.
I have to say, even being patient these didn’t turn out perfectly (not any of them) but I think that’s half the joy of DIY!
very nice 🙂
Thanks! They’re dotted around my house now bringing rainbowy goodness to every room!
Thats super cute 😉 I love it 😉
